Your shop's current routine
Seven moments worth checking.
Answer for what your team consistently does today. Choose “Not sure” when a step needs a closer look. You can change any answer.
Your follow-up list
Start with your next handoff.
Your No and Not sure answers will appear here as practical next steps. The printable worksheet includes all seven steps even if you leave the questions blank.
This is an operational checklist, not a safety rating, legal review, or insurance assessment.
Tesla shop handoff checklist
Review your team's routine. Mark Yes, No, or Not sure for each step. Use No and Not sure items as a follow-up list; assign an owner and a next action.
1. Record the car as it arrives
□ Yes □ No □ Not sureAdd an arrival photo step before work starts. Record existing marks, who made the observations, and when; keep the originals with the job record.
2. Agree on and test working access
□ Yes □ No □ Not sureAgree on the working key or access method, then confirm entry and readiness to move with the owner present. Arrange any needed fallback before they leave; do not rely on unconfigured digital controls.
3. Know who holds the key
□ Yes □ No □ Not sureAssign a key custodian and storage point. Label the key with a job reference, and record each handover between staff. A physical Tesla key card has no built-in usage audit trail.
4. Make the agreed work clear
□ Yes □ No □ Not sureKeep the agreed work and permitted vehicle moves with the visit. Record approval for changes before acting on them, including any road test or off-site movement.
5. Pass on the visit context
□ Yes □ No □ Not sureUse one handoff note for the car's recorded location, working key, work completed, and open issues. Name the receiving staff member and record the handoff time.
6. Review keys and access with the owner
□ Yes □ No □ Not sureReturn physical keys, review any temporary Tesla keys or permissions with the owner, and record what was actually confirmed. Keep unconfirmed removal visible; local visit closeout alone is not proof of removal.
7. Keep a record the team can find
□ Yes □ No □ Not sureKeep photos, authorizations, handoff notes, and the pickup record under one job reference. Check that authorized staff can retrieve them after closeout, and review the contents before sharing an owner report.
Operational discussion tool; not a safety, legal, or insurance assessment. Self-reported answers do not verify shop practices. Digital controls require provisioning, owner consent, confirmed pairing, an active visit, and connectivity.
Try the routine on one real visit.
Preview a sample visit record, then set up your shop and document your next card-key handoff. 14 days free, no credit card. Then $179/location/month.
Your first visit, step by step
Start with the working key you already use.
Create your shop
Create an account, confirm your email, sign in, and add your shop location. Your 14-day trial starts when you create the location.
Document one card-key visit
Agree on and test the working key with the owner. Check in the car, record arrival condition, and keep staff notes with the visit. A physical key workflow does not require connected vehicle readings.
Hand back and retrieve
Return the key, review any temporary access separately, and record hand-back. Retrieve the closed visit from your records; decide whether to enable an owner report.
A checklist is a starting point
Keep the context with the car.
GuestLot helps your team keep condition observations, staff notes, and hand-back context in a visit record, with owner reports your shop chooses to share.
Use the free checklist with your existing process. When you want a shared shop workspace, look through an illustrative sample record and see what recorded and missing information look like.
Vehicle readings require owner authorization and connectivity. Optional commands need provisioned signing infrastructure, explicit control consent, confirmed virtual-key pairing, and an active visit. This tool does not connect to a vehicle or verify live controls.
Physical cards cannot be remotely wiped. Closing a visit does not verify Tesla key removal; review keys and access separately with the owner.
For individual visits, the free condition report template gives your team a printable place to record observations.

About the handoff check
Is this checklist free, and do I need an account?
The self-check and printable worksheet are free. No signup or email address is required. The tool keeps your answers in the current page only; it does not send or save them. You can print a blank worksheet or one showing your answers.
What do the results mean?
The results are a follow-up list based on your own answers. A No or Not sure answer adds that item to the list. Unanswered items stay unreviewed. This is an operational discussion tool, not a safety rating, legal review, insurance assessment, or verification of your shop's practices.
Does completing this check give the shop Tesla access?
No. This checklist does not connect to Tesla or change vehicle access. GuestLot's optional command path requires configured signing infrastructure, owner consent, confirmed virtual-key pairing, an active visit, and connectivity. A physical key card cannot be remotely wiped, and closing a GuestLot visit does not verify removal of Tesla keys.
